Welcome to the website of the Energiewendebauen research initiative!

Without a scientific contribution, Germany’s Energiewende – its energy transition – will not be achievable as a fundamental social task. Research needs to provide the underlying basis so that the restructuring of the energy provision in Germany can be accelerated and placed on a secure footing. It contributes to developing the processes and technologies necessary for achieving the goals of the energy transition.

The energy transition aims to halve Germany’s primary energy consumption by 2050 and increase the proportion of power provided by renewable energies to over 60 per cent. Developing the necessary technologies and processes is therefore the key task of energy research in Germany.

The research programme includes different concepts and initiatives that are presented on the following web pages in more detail.
